The Hawaii Superferry haulted operations with its last voyage on March 19th, 2009. Due to a ruling by the Hawaii Supreme Court, the Hawaii Superferry will no longer be allowed to run services without an Environmental Impact Report.

Future voyages on the Alakai within Hawaii are not expected, though their is a possibility if an EIS is completed satisfactorily.
